Cookie Policy

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies (such as local storage and SDK identifiers) work in comparable ways. Together we call them "cookies" in this policy. Cookies let a site remember your actions and preferences over time.

We keep cookie usage deliberately minimal. Hanakoi sets or uses the following:

• Sign-in session cookie (necessary): after you sign in, a session cookie (auth_token) keeps you logged in. Without it you would have to sign in again on every page. It expires when you sign out.
• Language preference cookie (necessary): NEXT_LOCALE remembers the interface language you picked, so the site does not reset to English on every visit. It lasts up to one year.
• Analytics cookies and identifiers (statistics): Google Tag Manager / Google Analytics 4 set identifiers to measure how the site is used — which pages are visited, session duration and feature engagement. See Section 3.
• Sign-in provider cookies (necessary): when you sign in with Google, Google may set its own cookies as part of the authentication flow, governed by Google’s privacy policy.

We do not use cookies for advertising, profiling or cross-site tracking, and we do not sell data collected through cookies.

We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate usage of the Service (currently via Google Tag GT-NMJ2T26N with GA4 property G-SLS9L8DGHX). These tools may set cookies to distinguish unique users and sessions. Data collected is used to improve the product; it is not used to identify you personally in our systems.

You can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking analytics cookies in your browser (see Section 5).

• Session cookies: cleared when you sign out or when the session expires.
• NEXT_LOCALE: up to 12 months, then refreshed when you use the Service again.
• Google Analytics identifiers: retention is controlled in GA4 and is limited to a maximum of 14 months.

You can control cookies through your browser settings — you can block or delete cookies entirely, or block only third-party cookies. Blocking the necessary cookies described in Section 2 will break sign-in and language preference, so we recommend keeping them enabled. Most browsers also offer a "Do Not Track" or global privacy control setting; our analytics providers respond to such signals where required by law.

We may update this Cookie Policy as our use of cookies changes. The "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version. Material changes will be announced in the Service before they take effect.
